I Learned Nervous System Care - Judeo
Yeah
Teach myself
Teach myself
How to breathe in
How to breathe in
Used to wake up with my jaw locked
Palm in my hand, heart running non-stop
Scrolling through storms in a small room
Chest tight, mind loud in the soft gloom
Started counting in the kitchen by the fridge light
Feet on the tiles, slow blink, let the thoughts light
Cold glass of water on my lips, take a long sip
Said if I can feel this, I don't gotta trip
I let the nervous system care
Now my panic ain't finding chair
Slow my breath, I change the air
Body talking, I say yeah, I'm there
I let the nervous system care
Hands on heart, I pull me near
From the head to the leather of this chair
Now I move like the way they ain't done
Turn my bedroom to a soft place
Dim light, clean sheets, clear some floor space
Time around, 20 minutes just to lay still
Let my shoulders draw down from the window sill
Started taking every task like a fire drill
Started taking a little walk just to feel the chill
Learning to leave a couple calls on red
Choose peace over burning out my head
Now when the buzz hit
I don't jump first
Lean into feeling, let it roll like a low verse
If my hands shake, I don't feel shame
I just ride it like a wave, call my own name
Inhale for, hold for four
Exhale long, but give it to the floor
If my thoughts race, I don't chase the car
I stay right here, meet me where we are
