I know the long way round well
I’m accustomed to the scenic route
Worse for wear, but I took my lot
Cut my cloth, into a custom three piece suit
Best dressed man on the bus
Wise ahead of my years
But I can’t pretend I’ve got it all sussed
Couldn’t begin to tell you why anyone’s here
I’m just trying to bring a little bit of order out the chaos
Without the slightest guarentee that all of this will pay off
Acting off a hunch but imagine if i’m wrong
I’m lamenting to a woman in a cafe over lunch
She said “everyone’s in the same boat
Just relax and enjoy the trip”
But I said “I don’t know where all of this is going!”
And she said “that’s exactly the point of it”
I know we learn to read the signs
But there is more than meets the eye
I hear them call, they lead the blind
I block them out, I’ll be just fine
I’ve got a feeling in my gut
I know this ceiling can be pushed
I’m slowly healing, building trust
But you’ve got to start where you are
You can only start where you are
You’ve got this idea of who you want to be
And then you’ve got the person you are
And on your worst days
Those two people
Couldn’t feel further apart
And that’s got you in panic mode
There’s so far you still have to go
You want it all to move faster though
But truly how much do you have control?
See control is mostly a myth
It’s obsessive compulsiveness
We’ve all got a bunch of goals on a list
Most of us haven’t written down a whole lot of ticks
It doesnt matter
Pick a place and head for it
Every day take another step forward
And so chaos begets order
Sorted
I guess, sorta?
I know we learn to read the signs
But there is more than meets the eye
I hear them call, they lead the blind
I block them out, I’ll be just fine
I’ve got a feeling in my gut
I know this ceiling can be pushed
I’m slowly healing, building trust
But you’ve got to start where you are
You can only start where you are
May we drop our expectations
May we give ourselves some time
May we shed our desperation
May we get out of our mind
May the act of exhilation
Cleanse the toxins from our hearts
May we work through our frustrations
And then start from where we are
