Yeah... 3:15 AM.
The whole world is dead to the world.
But my eyes are wide open like a loaded gun.
Staring at the ceiling plaster, counting the cracks.
The monsters aren't under the bed tonight...
They're inside my skull.
Let's fight.
The clock on the wall is a sniper, taking a shot at my sanity
Every tick is a reminder of my fragile humanity
I fluffed the pillow ten times, flipped it to the cold side
But there’s no place in this bed where my demons can’t hide
I close my eyelids tight, trying to force the blackness in
But that’s exactly when the horror movie scripts begin
Every mistake I made in 2018 comes back alive
Every bridges that I burnt, every time I didn't thrive
My brain becomes a courtroom, and I’m the one on trial
Prosecuted by my regrets, forced to wearing a fake smile
(Piano chords get heavier)
The sheets feel like concrete, the blankets feel like lead
I’m a living, breathing corpse trapped inside a double bed.
It’s the war of the owl, fighting in the dark
Staring at the shadows, waiting for a spark
Everybody’s dreaming while I’m drowning in the night
Wrestling with the ghosts till the morning light
Yeah, sleep is a luxury I can't afford
Caught in a battle with my own thoughts' sword.
I look at my phone, the blue light burns my retina
Man, I'm losing this race, running out of stamina
"Five hours left till I gotta wake up for the grind"
That’s the exact phrase that panics my hyperactive mind
Now my heart is racing like a stolen muscle car
Thoughts spinning out of control, flying way too far
Did I lock the front door? Did I pay the electric bill?
Why did I say that stupid thing to her? It haunts me still
The silence in the room is getting dangerously loud
I'm suffocating under this heavy midnight cloud.
Just close your eyes...
No. If I close them, the thoughts get louder.
It's 4:30 AM now.
The birds are gonna start chirping soon.
That's the worst sound in the world when you haven't slept.
It sounds like defeat.
(Heavy, gasping breath)
Bring the beat back. I need to survive this night.
The sky outside is turning from a black to a dirty grey
The ultimate sign that I lost another night to the play
No melatonin, no warm milk could ever shut it down
I’m the undisputed king of this insomniac town
But look close at my eyes, yeah, the red veins are bleeding
But this dark midnight fuel is exactly what my art is needing
I took all the anxiety, the paranoia, and the dread
And I turned it into a masterpiece instead of staying dead
I survived the owl's war, I survived the longest night
Walking into the sunrise, ready for the daytime fight
You can keep your peaceful dreams, I’ll take the creative scars
'Cause the prettiest constellations are born from the darkest stars.
5:45 AM.
Sun's up.
Another battle won... but the war ain't over.
To everybody wide awake right now...
I see you.
Rest when you're dead.
