King Kong - Ben Miller Band
Written by:Ben Miller
Well I was thinking about King Kong
In the black and white film
And reporters with flashing bulbs
How they drugged him and chained him
And they stole him from home
They tempted him with the one thing he loved
And they exploited the king
For the novelty thing
And when he finally stood up for himself
They sent out some planes
And they shot his a** down
And snickered while the poor old boy fell
It's a shame the way
They made us out
To be a joke
Where nobody laughs
It's a shame to be seen as this novelty thing
By some members of the cold hearted press
I slept and I dreamt
I was flying back home
And crossed paths with the ghost of King Kong
Lord he's flying this way
And it's flying that way
We both smiled cause we were both flying home
And we were both too tired
To talk too much
But I shouted as he floated away
Where you're going buddy
They won't hurt you no more
And there really wasn't much more to say
It's a shame the way
They made us out
To be a joke
Where nobody laughs
Its a shame to be seen as this novelty thing
By some members of the cold hearted press
Now nobody plans to be who they are
They just become themselves over time
That's why I ain't proud
And I won't be ashamed
It wasn't some great grand design
And the places they take us
To play at these days
Well maybe we just don't belong
But we're just chasing down
The one thing we love
Like the big old gorilla King Kong
It's a shame the way
They made us out
To be a joke
Where nobody laughs
It's a shame to be seen as this novelty thing
By some members of the cold hearted press
By some members of the cold hearted press
