To crawl out of the sea
Growing my legs
Growing my legs to separate toes
Pop bones out of gills
Breathe out through the nose
Sand falls away to make way for eyes
To see above ground no more water for sky
I was the first tetrapod on the land
I was the first one to eat from the hand
Count me out here I’m learning to walk
Forgetting to swim I’m waiting and waiting
Pectoral fins I no longer need
I came from an egg now I come from the seed
I like this body, what can it teach me?

and whine, and how to count five to keep local time

Flexing my bones
And artery twine
