Absence Of Light

there is a chasm in the earth you never see, a wasteland of despair wrought from the wounds you carve into the landscape to feed your fleeting desires. in the absence of light, we fade away to ghosts. a haunting that will purge all your incisions and drag you to the precipice. no paradise awaits you. shadows passing through every meaningless moment like the walls of ruins. from collapsed lungs I breathe rust into your shelter. swimming through the pain, let no sacred space remain. reaching out to a blackened sky that lets you sink, swallowed by the scars you turned away from. when you once again wear your mask of indifference, I will rip your dimming eyes from your shattered skull and turn them towards the pooling blood within your footprints. I will break the hands that tip the scales in your favor to watch you fall into the pit, nothing more than dead weight. no paradise awaits you.
