Down by the tracks, where the trains rolled slow

We'd sit and talk, watch the daylight go

Leigh's old house stood just out back

We'd laugh for hours by the railway tracks

Pockets full of coins, hearts full of dreams

Waiting for the world to pass, or so it seemed

And when that train went rumblin' through

We'd cheer like kids with nothin' to lose

Those silver coins would shine like glass

Flattened by time, but built to last

I still see us down by the tracks

Rust and gravel under our shoes

Skid marks from our bikes in twos

The air would hum with that distant sound

Of city trains homeward bound
