To End the Day

Take me away

I long to over look a vista today

to ride off into the sunset

stare off into the distance

Mountainside waterfalls

spring forth and weep

meander down the steep sides

to the canyons far below

Eagles soar above

on the thermals high

sailing across the skies

in front of clouds so far

The only sounds

the faint eagles call

the whispery wind

echo of my horses foot fall

Occasionally an elk call

a click of a hoof on rock

the rocking motion

back and forth as we trap

Stopping at a meadow wide

with an overlook of the divide

below the canyon a view

beautiful vista to review

Make a camp

set a tent

make a fire

eat repast

Enjoy the stars

the milky way

watch the satellites

zip away

Natures TV

so much better

a way

to end the day

Crickets sing

the night time hymn

a trance like effect

with the light so dim

Slumber I seek

to refresh my mind

heal my body

leave the day behind

An ideal day

to pass my time

I share with you

a mental vacation

some time away from the zoo
