Driving,
High beams on
The cars they light up
One by one
Looking like boats on the walls of a Dutch canal
Windscreens form a path
To telegraph poles,
Up the hill, standing up tall
Like mountains over town
And when the sun’s touched down
And there’s no one else around
I see more
And so my thoughts run round
The world is quiet now
I see the rolling moon:
Late Flights
Beacons on the wings
That flash like
A fading star
He clouds form
A veil over nights eye
Night holds
What gets lost when the
sun glows
So I drive along the
dark roads
To see what I can find
