You watched her walk by on that cold spring morning
A new stranger for your desire
Hooded and scarved against the breeze of the shoreline
A mystery to make you aspire
You watched her from afar
And you painted pictures
of a perfect future in your mind
The life you meant to live
before the world took over
You’d leave mundane living far behind
The waves were not kind on that cold spring morning
Buffered and blue, you worked on
Daydreaming of her calmed the roughest of oceans
But when you returned she was gone
You watched her from afar
And you painted pictures
of a perfect future in your mind
The life you meant to live
before the world took over
You’d leave mundane living far behind
You asked around the town if folks had seen her
You wasted days skulking by the shore
Whilst back at home your wife was waiting,
alone and unaware you wanted more
