Bare roots claw at the frozen ground
Moss is gone where the dead bark bound
Footsteps sink into cracked stone mud
No bird calls no rain just hollow blood
Grey sky presses low on my crown
Only shadows walk when the sun goes down
I walk this hollow where the forests died
No breath of life to turn the tide
Thorns wrap my bones the land is bare
Ice in my veins the air is thin
This empty wild is where I begin
Subterranean dark where the roots run deep
Old rotten trunks where the cold will sleep
I taste the iron in the frozen air
No path to lead no one to care
Cracked branches scrape at my weathered skin
The silence here is a sharpened gin
I crawled from the hole where the dark was bred
No hope left here for the living or dead
Thorns wrap my bones the land is bare
Blisters burst on my calloused feet
The barren dark is all I meet
They burned the old trees to ash and dust
They left this waste to rot and rust
I am the ghost that won't leave this ground
I am the wound that will not close down
The cold runs deeper than the mine shaft's core
I will not leave I will not fall
Thorns wrap my bones the land is bare
My bones will rest where the forests died
This barren wild will be my grave
