Standing in the valley of decision, trying hard to make the right choice
The devil had called. I staggered and stalled
Captured by a sweeter, gentler voice
My life had become like a tavern. Lonely and darkened with sin
Jesus said let me in and I’ll be your friend
And that’s when renovations began.
From a tavern to a temple, where the holy spirit dwells
What a difference His love made, my soul was saved from Hell
Grace hung a new sign above my heart’s door
Now this temple is not a tavern anymore
Old friends that once hung ‘round the tavern,
They don’t have a home, cause things have changed
Addiction and fear and terror reigned here,
Till lovingly He healed and rearranged
Well, there’s peace now, inside of the temple
Satan has forever lost the war,
Now my heart is a throne for Jesus alone
Now this temple is not a tavern anymore
From a tavern to a temple, where the holy spirit dwells
What a difference His love made, my soul was saved from Hell
Grace hung a new sign above my heart’s door
Now this temple is not a tavern anymore
Grace hung a new sign above my heart’s door
Now this temple is not a tavern anymore
