in the summer - Quinny

In the summer when we were younger
We didn't know what the hell we were doing
In the summer when we were lovers
It was only ourselves we were losing
I met you on the beach that night
I was taking a walk you were enjoying the sights
You asked me to come over and sit
And we stared at the stars and talked for a bit
You're glad about your parents divorce
Your brother's happier now and you go out more
You love the beach and the sound of the waves
But hate the way that rose tastes
But now you have to go
The sun's peeking up and it's getting late
Your tracks in the sand as you walk away
'Cause I can't wait to see you again
Lifeguard chair and the sunset
And I never have to ask how you've been
'Cause I've been there too
'Cause I can't wait to see you again
Play with my hair and the sunset
And I never have to ask how you've been
'Cause I've been there too
You lay your tied head on my lap
You put my sweatshirt on as you let out a laugh
You curled up while you're watching the waves
You fell asleep and I wished I could stay here for days
I brush a hair behind your ear
I know that everything I need is just right here
You half asleep when you look at me
You hold my head in your hand and you kiss my cheek
But now you have to go
The sun's peeking up and it's getting late
Your tracks in the sand as you walk away
'Cause I can't wait to see you again
Lifeguard chair and the sunset
And I never have to ask how you've been
'Cause I've been there too
'Cause I can't wait to see you again
Play with my hair and the sunset
And I never have to ask how you've been
'Cause I've been there too
Now you live with your dad because the judge said so
Off to Oklahoma no beaches only roads
No sandy feet anymore no more walks into town
No more kisses under starlight noone to keep me on the ground
'Cause I can't wait to see you again
Lifeguard chair and the sunset
And tell me all about how you've been
'Cause I missed you
'Cause I can't wait to see you again
Play with my hair and the sunset
And tell me all about how you've been
'Cause I love you
