Where I Ride (WIR 6) - Conrad Mortiss
The moon is rising over yonder hill
Fires burning bright, the night stands still
Coffee's hot and the stars are bright spanning the sky so wide
Just me and my roan on this midnight campsite
A break from our ride
Through prairies wide and valleys deep
Over mountain peaks where shadows sleep
Rain or shine and sleet or snow I ride this trail where I don't know
The trail that goes on
Like my life
I ride on, where to I do not know
When I get there I will know
Where the wind whispers soft and low, where the pine trees sway
Back and forth
Searching for what I can call mine, some land
A ranch and a wife, my roan and I
Two of a kind we ride on, day after night
The fire fades but the warmth feels right
Neath a blanket of stars in the quiet of the night
No map, no sign, just the heart's old song
Telling me boy keep riding on, you must go on
I ride on, where to I do not know
When I get there I will know
Where the wind whispers soft and low, where the pine trees sway
Back and forth
Searching for what I can call mine, some land
A ranch and a wife, my roan and I
Two of a kind we ride on, day after night
Through dust and thunder, through heat and cold
The story's long but my spirit remains bold
Every mile's a story untold
In the saddle, my heart feels like pure gold
Seen rivers turn from blue to brown
The currents rip and roar like a cloud
Watch sunsets bleed on this old ground
A coyote's cry, a lonesome sound
Where wolves sing their symphonies at night
But peace is where no walls are found
Land and skies open wide
That's where I ride
Each dawn brings a brand new sky with this morning light
Each night asks the reason why
As the stars with their twinkle wake up
But somewhere past that ridgeline high
My name waits written in the western sky
I ride on, where to I do not know
When I get there I will know
Where the wind whispers soft and low, where the pine trees sway
Back and forth
Searching for what I can call mine, some land
A ranch and a wife, my roan and I
Two of a kind we ride on, day after night
Yeah my roan and I
Two of a kind, forever riding wild and free
This country got a hold on me
