I am no traveler of geography
But the eyes through which the world sees itself
I do not long for any distant scenery
Nor envy the paths that others tread
I only chase every dawn and dusk you have seen
Tread every inch of the latitude and longitude you once traced
And in silence gaze upon the same vast sky
I am no maker of maps
Nor the one who deciphers the land
It is the earth that through my voice
Softly speaks in the tongue of man
And maps—oh they are nothing but the lies mankind has told
Ink lines crossing blurring the true home we hold
I do not love geography for I am the world itself
I know not where I'm going nor ask the way back
I only know that at this very moment
I am right here—like wind like dust—
In your soil taking root
Morning light is you twilight is you
Every road we've walked is reflected in my view
No need to seek the faraway no need to ask for meaning
The world is every single breath you're breathing
I do not love geography
For I am the world itself
Not for wandering not for pilgrimage
I only know for certain here and now
I am right here—unborn undying—
With the voice of the earth I speak eternity
