The Last Bell
The heavy doors swing wide
The sudden freedom calls
We throw our backpacks down
And run out to the yard
The sky was endless blue
We took off on our bikes
I still can hear it ring
The last bell of summer
We ran into the light
With nowhere else to go
Those days made who we are
The last bell of summer
We stayed until the sun
Was sinking in the sky
We laughed until we cried
And swore we'd never change
No worries in our minds
Just riding down the street
I still can hear it ring
The last bell of summer
We ran into the light
With nowhere else to go
Those days made who we are
The last bell of summer
(The last bell of summer)
We didn't know back then
How fast the years would go
That simple afternoon
Would stay inside our hearts
It made us who we are
I still can hear it ring
The last bell of summer
We ran into the light
With nowhere else to go
Those days made who we are
The last bell of summer
The sun sinks low
The day is done
The last bell of summer
(Ring on, ring on)
It stays with us
