Still We Try - Elise Testone
Gone embers shine down on your face
You make sure every thing is in place
Though watching you with the thousand eyes
An actor at his best all day
He doesn't hear a word you say
Let him tempt you with his smiles
I'm starting to feel like I'm mislead
Find me a place to lay my head
Still we try to stand
Still we fall
Sometimes walking does no good at all
Tried to work it on out yeah
Follow your shadow like a damn fool
And oh they'll always get too close to you
Tried to work it on out
You're passing back and forth and blue
Forgetting everything you knew
Why don't you take a look around
You know their story oh so well
In thirty seconds time you'll tell
That you've walked this ground
I'm starting to feel like I'm mislead
Find me a place to lay my head
Still we try to stand
Still we fall
Sometimes walking does no good at all
Tried to work it on out
Yeah you follow your shadow like a damn fool
And oh they'll always get the best of you
Tried to work it on out
Believing you're achieving good
Forgetting nothing place you stood
Nothing place you stood
Still they always look so proud
Don't you let them wear you down down down down
Try to stand
Still we fall
Sometimes walking does no good at all
Tried to work it on out yeah
Follow your shadow like a damn fool
And oh they'll always get too close to you
Tried to work it on out
We all start to feel satisfied
Though we can't can't find in a lie no
But still we try
