I Wrote 'Miss You' Then Deleted It

I typed it slow, just three small words

Then stared too long, like they were heard

The cursor blinked, the screen went dim

I backspaced love, on just a whim

I wrote"miss you" then deleted it

Like saying so would not quite fit

And though it stayed inside my chest

The silence said the feeling best

I paused, then locked the phone away

Regret comes softer end of day

Some words are sharp when read too soon

So I let mine float past the moon

You’ll never know, but I still meant

Each line I typed but never sent
