There are times I know I’m meant
To lift myself up on the wall
climb over to a change of climate
Searching for a smile until I find it
Times when it’s on me to break the ice of my indifference
But when the windscreen is fogged
The fuel is low
And there’s still a way to go
It’s sort of simpler
to take my hands off the wheel
Just sit here
stirring.
To identify with pain
To find somebody else to blame
And to remain inside these walls of discontent
So I accept the anger
Like an open tab
On a frozen screen
Because maybe it is waiting
For me to look a little closer
And even if I find
That there was nothing there to learn
Maybe all it needed
Was a little time to stir
And attention of the heart
And sooner than I thought
The system did a restart
And the traffic disappeared
And I wasn’t angry anymore
But learned only after
That with patience and acceptance
The walls of discontent
Reveal a door to laughter
