Is that more unfaithful

Than one real hot dirty crime?

If I lose a thousand games

Am I a loser?

If I long for hollow fame

Am I a shell?

If I hate inside my head

Have I been insane?

If my love has long gone dead

Have I been cruel?

If to myself I've been untruthful

And never stopped to cry

Is that more untruthful

Than one hundred bitter lies?

If I long for a better world

Do I surrender?

If I search for a whiter pearl

Am I vain?

If I hide in my shadow

Am I a pretender?

If I charge into battle

Will I be maimed?

If in my mind I've been ungrateful

And forgotten all the joy

Is that so unexpected

From a lost and lonely soul?
