My Dad and I went out one day
Looking for a spider with which to play
We turned a stone and there he was
Big as life and covered with fuzz
He looked at us and started to run
I knew right away, he was going to be fun
We scooped him up before he got far
And popped him in a peanut-butter jar
But suddenly the strangest thing
Happened before our eyes
That little spider, he started to grow
To an enormous size
My Dad and I were quite surprised
To see that spider grow in size
We didn't know just what to do
So, we sat down to watch that spider grow
At first he was the size of a mouse
But before too long he was as big as a house
My Dad said,"Boy, you'd better run
"This spider is no longer fun
We raced down the garden path
Looking for a place to hide
But suddenly a hairy arm
Lifted us into the sky
My Dad and I were scared to death
When that spider scooped us off the path
Before too long we were in his bed
Tied up tight in a silken web
That spider looked me in the eye
'Til I began to blubber and cry
He didn't speak, he didn't blink
My heart stopped beating
I couldn't think
"Please" Mister Spider I yelled at him
"Don't hurt us 'cause we're your friend
"Ha!", said the spider with a contemptuous sneer
"You're lying! I know you don't really care
My Dad and I knew right away
That spider was telling the truth that day
At last he said,"I'll let you go
"If you promise me, you'll mend your ways
I looked at Dad, he looked at me
"You bet we'll promise" is what said we
He let us down, right to the ground
A moment later, we were heading to town
You may think that this was just a bad dream
Or say I'm crazy in the brain
But I'll tell you true and I don't lie
"I'll never touch a spider again
My Dad and I, we learnt that day
Don't mess with spiders or you'll pay
God loves them just as much as us
He gave them to us as a Trust
