The Gift of Letting Go - MelodySpot
This Christmas feels much quieter than all the ones before.
No rushing hearts, no promises left waiting at the door.
Just me and all the memories I kept but never stroke.
Learning how to hold them gently, learning how to let them go and they
And though the ache reminds me of the love I couldn't keep.
There's something in the winter air that softens where I weep.
A whisper saying healing doesn't happen while you sleep.
So here's my gift this Christmas, I released what hurt me so.
The pieces of a story only time could help me know.
I breathe out all the heaviness I carried year by year.
And make a little room inside for light to reappear.
Though part of me still trembles when I face the truth alone.
I'll trust the gentle wisdom that the falling snow has shown.
That love can leave and that's okay, its meaning still can grow.
For sometimes Christmas gives the gift of learning to let go.
The ornaments are shining in a quieter kind of way.
Reflecting all the versions of who I was yesterday.
And though some dreams are resting now beneath the winter's glow.
I feel a calmer heartbeat where the storm once used to blow.
If letting go is gentle, then perhaps it's meant for me.
A chance to free the parts of love that never learned to be.
And give myself the grace to breathe a little more easily.
So here's my gift this Christmas, choosing peace I didn't find.
Releasing every heavy thought that weighed upon my mind.
And even if the tears still fall like snowflakes from the sky.
They melt into a softness that no longer asks me why.
For love that once was beautiful will always live in me.
Just not the way I held it, not the way it used to be.
So as the night grows gentle and the candle's embers glow.
I thank this Christmas quietly for teaching me to let go.
And with a heart made lighter than the winter winds that blow.
I step into tomorrow with a warmth I finally know.
