Those Years (18th-Century Symphonic Ballad) - Beta2Gamma
If there's a day I come returning
To that far land of clouds and pine rows
Small streets lean down in misty twilight
Echoing steps of memories flow
We went to see those films from old days
The silver screen and soft glowing rays
The reels would hum, hearts gently trembling
Music from youth in dreams softly plays
A tiny room with golden lamp light
Vinyl spins round and tape softly sighs
Outside the snow drifts white at window
Inside the night our songs never die
Those golden years, pure and enchanted
Far from home, yet warmth filled the air
A voice would rise through frozen evening
And in my heart that flame is still there
Each Christmas Eve with friends together
We built a tree in gentle lights glow
Bright silver foil, our dreams were shining
Like morning sun on fields of snow
There came long days of blooming Maytime
Fields dressed in gold where breezes roam
The cherry blooms like clouds of wonder
And pear sweet air drifted through home
Cold morning streets, a roll in my hand
Through mist I ran to workdays demand
Thick coat and scarf, yet warmth inside me
When softly called that dear voice grand
No vows were made, yet thoughts still linger
No love confessed, yet poetry grew
In foreign lands I loved life's moments
And winter's chill felt tender too
Those golden years, pure and enchanted
Far from home, yet warmth filled the air
A voice would rise through frozen evening
And in my heart that flame is still there
If someday soon I look behind me
And see that youth I used to be
A shining soul so clear and open
Lived one true time
With wind and spring free
