The tongue, a flame, a raging fire,
A weapon forged in dark desire
It spits out wrath, it spreads the lies,
With every word, the soul denies
A restless beast, no chain can bind,
It tears apart and leaves behind
A path of death, a scarred divide,
A curse unleashed, no truth to hide
Can you tame this raging storm?
Or will it break and leave you torn?
What words are coming from your mouth?
A fountain of life or a well of doubt?
A fire that burns, a poison's sting,
What will your tongue reveal to bring?
With blessing, with cursing speak,
The broken heart, the soul so weak
With poison, it deceives and blinds,
It slays the righteous, binds the mind
It builds, it breaks, it wounds the soul,
A bitter curse that takes its toll
Like deadly venom in the vein,
It leaves behind an endless pain
What words are coming from your mouth?
A fountain of life or a well of doubt?
A fire that burns, a poison's sting,
What will your tongue reveal to bring?
By grace, we're made anew,
Redeem our tongues, let them speak the truth
For in Your Word, we find our way
