Butch's song,"Making Up Time" is a country love song and was written by Lefty Frizzell. Making Up Time was the last song Lefty Frizzell, along with his good friend Rusty Adams, wrote before his death in 1975. This song was presented to Butch Lawson to be his first release on Stardom Records. Making Up Time was released in April of 1976 and hit number 5 on Nashville Billboard Charts and number 1 Record World, May 1,1976. In 2002, Butch's single, Making Up Time, was accepted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee and is now on display in Lefty Frizzell's Museum in his hometown of Corsicana, Texas. Making Up Time was produced by one of Nashville's most famous guitar players, Jimmy Bryant. Making Up Time was recorded in LSI Studios on Music Row, Nashville, Tennessee with Nashville's Top Session Musicians, such as Buddy Emmons (steel guitar), Leon Rhodes(lead guitar), Jimmy Bryant(lead and rhythm guitar), Willie Tinsley (drums), and The Nashville Division Singers from the famous TV show, Hee Haw, doing the backup vocals for Butch.
