The band SOMETYMES WHY is a mesmerizing trio of modern-day sirens. Their vocal intesity, sparse arrangements, and passionate lyricism whirl into the the air and cut a cyclone's path through the heart. Aoife, Ruth and Kristin have honed their recipe for true tenderness with utter disregard for conformity or convention. Their songs tell the secret tales of our own lives and beg us to believe in the power of revelation. ***This record was recorded very simply on May 20th, 2005. We wrote most of the songs ourselves. We also designed and folded the nifty cardboard boxes that the CD comes in. ** KRISTIN ANDREASSEN ** voice, harmonica, guitar, glockenspiel, tambourine, cymbal. You may know Kristin from her other bands -- Uncle Earl, The Jolly Bankers & Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble.** AOIFE O'DONOVAN ** voice, baritone ukulele, wurlitzer, piano, guitar, soprano ukulele, glockenspiel, cowbell. You may know Aoife from her other bands -- Crooked Still, The Wild Band of Snee & The Wayfaring Strangers.** RUTH UNGAR ** voice, fiddle, soprano ukulele, guitar, baritone ukulele, glockenspiel, high hat. You may know Ruth from her other bands -- The Mammals, Mike Merenda & Ruth Ungar, Jay Ungar & Molly Mason's Family Band, and The Wayfaring Strangers.***Parental Advisory: Please note that Track Seven ("Too Repressed") contains Explicit Lyrics.A Silver"family-friendly" Edition of this album is now also available at CD Baby.***Notes on the name: We used to be called Sometimes Why. There is a band in Toronto with that same name, so we changed the band name to Sometymes Why (which is also clever). The album title (both for the original black edition and the new silver edition) is still"Sometimes Why".
