Based in Duke University, Mobius is a progressive/funk/alternative rock quartet on the rise in the Durham music scene. Consisting of vocalist Wyatt Smith, guitarist Dylan Gleit, bassist Mike DeVito, and drummer Henry Sosa, Mobius incorporates elements from a plethora of different genres to deliver a punchy, tight, unique style of rock and roll with an undeniable groove. Within the members' first semester at Duke, the newly-formed band caught the attention of the local, student-run record label, Small Town Records, and got signed after their first live performance. Since then, the band has been constantly performing in the area and writing new music that pushes the boundaries of their collective creativity. After a mere year and a half of being together, Mobius took up the challenge of writing and self-recording their first full length album. With such a large goal and limited professional resources, namely the lack of a certified audio engineer, the band knew they had to become self-sufficient in order to produce recordings of the desired quality. Guitarist Dylan Gleit took advantage of the abundance of studio time offered to the signed artists and coupled it with his knowledge of the recording process gained through a class he had taken during his first semester; this provided him with the tools to engineer the entire album himself. After recording was finished, the majority of the songs were sent out to be mixed and mastered by Ryan Taylor Hayes of Westfall Recording Company NY, while the few remaining songs were mixed and mastered by the band. The resulting product, Vintage Tones, represents the culmination of Mobius' efforts and demonstrates the band's exponential growth in the short time it has existed.
