The self-titled debut album by the San Marcos alt-rock outfit, Sunsera, was and independent project from the beginning. from the songwriting through the mixing stage, the four members worked completely on their own to craft all 9 tracks on the album. With the exception of Track 9, the album was entirely self-engineered. With no exceptions, the album was entirely self-mixed. The work that went into the creating of this album is tremendous, and took a year and a half to complete, from the first day of tracking to the release date. This can be heard throughout the album, the meticulous and pristine care that was taken on each track. Combining many different influences, ranging from Relient K to John Mayer, the album covers a range of styles, while at the same time maintaining a cohesive sound throughout. From the upbeat punk-influenced vibe of Counterfeit, to the crushing guitar in the bridge of Lost, to the Mayer-esque lead guitar in The Open Sea, to the somber piano-driven Didymus (The Fool), the album takes you on a musical journey, with many of the songs bleeding into one another in a beautiful way.
