‘Peace’ - about the album: ‘Peace’ is the 4th Piano album by Pete Pascoe. Plays for 1 hour featuring 20 original compositions.It’s very peaceful all the way through. Pete has a light, sensitive touch on the keys. ------‘ Peace is a fleeting moment.It’s the human condition that in the moment of realising this is the state we are in, we attempt to embrace it, but we also feel the need to analyse it - where it comes from, “How did I come do be in this state?” etc.In an effort to quantify the situation (an attempt to quantify that which is unquantifiable) in that moment, instead of being still (like viewing a deer in nature and enjoying it for what it is), we cannot resist but offer words, thoughts and (inevitably ) actions, which only hastens the end to the moment - and its gone. Again. ‘Peace‘ , the album, is a series of ‘moments’, then. I hope you enjoy them.’There is variety here. The title track (1) ‘Peace’ is probably the most ‘expected‘ in terms of it’s structure. The melody and chords of the 3 different parts are linked by something - not sure what it is - and I won’t try to find out. The improvised final track (20) ‘Recollections’ is probably the opposite - illogical in it’s chord structure and different sections - but they fit together equally as well as the first song. And that is the statement I’m making: Beauty is what it is. Sometimes (most times) I wish we’d leave it at that. I hope you enjoy this album.
