In 2005, the death metal band known as Cyaegha was conceived. ThisVirginia based quartet (Steven Redmond, Mike Tweed, Daniel Cooley, andMatt Wells), brings together a group of eccentric individuals whoshare a common desire to play extreme metal, while not restrictingthemselves to conventional metal genres.Heavily influenced by the literary artworks of H.P Lovecraft, Cyaeghaattempts to bring his supernatural world to life through the lyricaland melodic darkness of each song. Inspired by Lovecraft's writings, the lyrical content of Cyaegha's songs are either composed into poeticsynopsizes of Lovecraft's stories or sinister fables set in inLovecraft's fictionally horrific world. When composing their music,Cyaegha strives to create a sound which is both menacing and chaotic,in order to accurately depict the raw sensations of fear andhopelessness described by Lovecraft. In 2008, Cyaegha was signed to Canonical Hours for the release oftheir debut LP. The full-length"Steps of Descent", is a relentlessopus of fury and brutality which was recorded at Karma Productions(GWAR, Municipal Waste, Birds of Prey, and Skeletonwitch) and producedby Cory Smoot (GWAR and Mensrea) in the summer of 2008. With artworkfrom John Coulthart (Cradle of Filth, Melechesh, and Turisas), thisalbum is a visual and auditory assault on the senses.Having played with the following bands: Psyopus, Malevolent Creation,Origin, Incantation, Animosity, Anal Blast, Misery Index, VitalRemains, Deeds of Flesh, Decrepit Birth, Vile, Severe Torture,Malignancy, Decapitated, Abigail Williams, Mortal Decay, and DyingFetus; Cyaegha is fast becoming known as a band who delivers apowerful live performance along-side some of the most brutal acts inmetal.
