Denver, Colorado‐based band Black Postcards is currently gearing up for the independent release of its first EP,"Inside the Shadow Box." The EP will be available through Basement Flat Records. The four‐song EP includes the tracks"Shadow Box,""Let Go," and"Inception." The music and lyrics for the release were written and recorded by Black Postcards bass player/guitarist Adam Brinkman, guitarist Candace Horgan and vocalist Justin Newport. Also included on the EP is the ambient remix of the band’s single “Shadow Box” entitled"Inside the Shadow Box (sworn remix)," produced by SWORN Productions. The concept of the Black Postcards came about as a songwriting experiment between Brinkman and Horgan. “We approached the songwriting and recording process in a very unique way. We would come up with the very basics for a song and then pretty much let them (the songs) produce themselves. This allowed for a lot of experimentation during recording. Our vocalist would then come in after the songs were recorded and add his unique lyrical style to the mix. We didn’t know how things would turn out at the beginning, but ultimately, it’s in my opinion, we’ve created a unique sound all our own.” - Adam BrinkmanThe group enlisted James Tuttle of Airshow Mastering to mix the EP, as well as the band's full‐length debut album, which will be out in mid‐2012. Tuttle's previous engineering credits include Joan Osborne, Tim Reynolds, Los Lonely Boys and the String Cheese Incident to name a few. Tuttle has also worked with literally hundreds of top national and international artists throughout his mixing efforts with the nationally syndicated radio broadcast eTown. Mastering was completed by Airshow’s founder and two‐time Grammy Award winning engineer David Glasser, who recently mastered the Grateful Dead's complete Europe 72 box set.
