"My interest for Funana and Batuque came to me as a child, listening to them in the house with the cape-verdean parents. Its known that those two genres were prohibited in the colonial's period in Africa. After the independence of african portuguese-speaking countries. Because of that, Funana and Batuque were started to be used like an african identity affirmation, namely cape-verdean's identity. Nowadays my musical and life's objective is, essentially, the affirmation of african identity, peace and union of the peoples, and the proliferation of love. Those are my principal lyric themes."
