This is The Grave Jinglers first album, written and performed by Doc Reinhart (Drums, Bass, Guitars, and Vocals), an actual doctor or medicine. The Midnight Sun EP channels through a large scope of human emotion from the highs of self realization through the lows of getting there. It was largely fueled by feelings of unjust loss and the process of reconciliation and forgiveness. Rockin' Devil is a partially fictionalized figure of someone who is unintentionally intimidating and a threat to the status quo. As a consequence, he is slightly callous and you can ride through a typical night with him in this radio-friendly song. (Thief of the) Midnight Sun explores the bitterness of betrayal and the philosophical questionings of a broken mind. It is also suggestive of the thief within ourselves. Crickets Dance is a dramatized orchestra expressing the potential harmony in nature, the insensible forces and tensions battling against it, and the inherently painful contradiction it poses for us. The song attempts to capture the grandeur of the theme with a huge rock orchestral climax at the end. End of the Band is a pop/rock song with a bitter twist, comedically striking back at all those who question whether there is more to life than what is in directly in front of them.
