Kelli Debbs is a singer/songwriter based out of LA and originally from Tampa, FL. She began writing at the age of 21 and is self-taught on guitar, a guitar that was gifted to her by her parents as a graduation present from high school. Her music is inspired by travelling, relationships with people, and persistent introspection. Her musical first loves were country and musical theater, which attributed to her affinity for telling a story and speaking of simple human conditions. Growing up, every childhood road trip was accompanied by the soundtrack of John Denver, the main influence from her parents. It was clear Kelli loved to sing at an early age, as she found every opportunity to do so. She also loved acting and thrived in the spotlight in musical theater as a teenager, a place where she found her powerful voice. Kelli began playing guitar around the age of 21, where songwriting gave her an avenue for expressing herself and using her voice in new ways. Playing guitar and singing was so different than acting out or singing a song another person wrote. It allowed her to be vulnerable and express things that weren't always easy to say without music. She struggled at first with performing in this new way. The double edge sword was that it was also difficult being so vulnerable. But she loved it too much to give up on it.Kelli moved to London from 2007-2009, where she grew as a performer by playing open mics all over London. She learned from artists from all over the world. In 2009, Kelli returned to Tampa, where she hosted music nights at some of the area's top live music spots. Kelli moved to LA in 2010, after releasing her 1st EP, Dreamers and Insomniacs. When she moved to LA, she hit the ground running.Kelli has since played at venues such as Harvelle's, The House of Blues, Viper Room, The Roxy, and had numerous bands, each one teaching her new things about who she is as an artist. She has developed her writing skills by working on several other projects, including recording a duet with Mark Johnson of FCAB, recording vocals on Lee Wahlert's"Hyperopia," co-writing with Robert E Lee of Vintage Soul Project, and collaborating with several other bands throughout LA. Her love for community and support for other artists inspires her and pushes her to continue entertaining and sharing her experiences. Her sophomore album, Baby Steps, is a snapshot of the road so far and features many well-known musicians who found their way into her inquisitive world.
