In 2004, five guys from an Australian high school started playing really heavy music that their town had never heard before. They called this band Coma Lies. 6 years later, with several changes to the ensemble, none of the original members continued as part of the band. After recording the first EP"A Churchwell Killing" in 2006 the band switched drummers and both guitarists quit. Bold move.After finding their feet with new members and better songs they toured Australia multiple times. After two years of touring Australia and playing to ever increasing crowds, Coma Lies started looking at the bigger picture. With that, they all took out $10,000 loans and booked airfares to Los Angeles to record their music with Steve Evetts. What a steep learning curve. Coma Lies crossed the Pacific ocean to America with no contacts and no idea of what the hell was going to happen. Luckily the internet is an incredible place and they found someone willing to let five strangers into their home for 2 months! The band travelled 2 hours each day on the wrong side of the road from North Hollywood to Garden Grove and back for 30 days. As the music began to take shape, inevitably the band ran out of time with the busy producer. The band went deeper in debt and brought Steve Evetts to Australia to finish the album. With the music sounding incredible and the vocalist having difficulty fulfilling his role, the band were left to complete the album without Steve. By November 2009, the vocals still lacked substance, and the band decided to cut their losses and part ways with their singer and only remaining original member.With no frontman and an expensive incompleted album, the band started looking for a replacement, within days of looking the perfect candidate arose. Reece Moon. With a dead line of 2 months, Reece re-wrote the lyrics and recorded a full album worth of vocals.. After the completion of the album, the band encountered another speedbump in the form of the ex-vocalist registering the name"Coma Lies", and so it couldn't be used by any other party. After a subtle name change to"Coma Lies NC", all artwork and related articles had to be changed (NC, standing for Newcastle which is the town where all the members are from). All these reoccuring setbacks have only made Coma Lies NC work harder. The release of their debut album"The Great Western Basin" is set for april 2010 and another Australian tour will follow. While staying true to their unique sound and attitude, bands such as Cult of Luna, Converge and The Dillinger Escape Plan have influenced the music of Coma Lies NC, recently being best compared to the heavy UK group, Architects. We hope that through the heavy, yet intricate sound of Coma Lies NC, you can year the two years of hard and honest work behind it. Coma Lies NC are a completely self-funded band who have worked for everything and will continue to work hard until their music is accessible by everyone.
