By Greg Prebble, NZ Musician Magazine, November 2011"Paekakariki‘s Stefan Wolf has been making music for 25 years, initially recording for Flying Nun back in 1986. This year he has released five quirky tracks on this new EP, which follows on from 2008’s ‘How Much Do I Get For A Fiver’. The rocky title track is sung in German, which translates as ‘The Cliché’. Rough distorted guitars drowning out synthesised beats later mask off-beat and sometimes out of time yet enthusiastic cymbal crashes. The CD cover features a delicious looking pizza covered in olives, which happens to be the subject of the opening song, that ends in a crescendo of vocals all singing with gusto, “The cheeese!” Other topics include adults that refuse to grow up and Wolf‘s disdain for them (Loser) along with the uncertainty of emotions after meeting a potential mate (This Feeling). There‘s also a sombre acoustic closer Three Times Is Not An Accident, which highlights the sympathy one feels for others when times are tough. Wolf‘s voice is gruff and distinctly Kiwi – but by using a combination of raw emotion (including small town rustic anger and solace) as well as instruments that are run through a series of dense effects, the result is anything but a cliché."Rip It Up Magazine, Brent Strathdee, December 2011‎"First there was Howlin' Wolf and now there's Stefan Wolf from Paekakarikiki who makes raw lo-fi music, with a weird spoken word style of vocals.
