We are the people that give the rocks that cry out some well deserved time off.Rocking the world through reflection on creatures the Anabaptist Bestiary Project is a ten piece alternative rock ensemble under the creative direction of Trevor Bechtel. The ABP collects vocal and instrumental musicians from Bluffton University to delve into the artistic and literary heritage of the spirituality of creatureliness. At our most modest we are a college rock band. At our most bold we are striking out a new path for theological reflection on nature and reorienting the religion/science debate by modeling both good theology and good science. We reflect on the things that scientists, primarily ethologists and naturalists, discover about the world and its creatures and then engage in a theological reflection about the behaviour and place of these creatures in the world.Often to aid the narrative a human story is added to the song. Flocks includes the fancier Ron Diener; Nothing will change the world is about Lorenza Andrade Smith. In this way, we are a contemporary bestiary. Bestiary’s are documents that flourished in medieval europe. They collected the best natural science of the day, reflections from the bible, and developed a moral about how the animal revealed God’s will. Natural science has changed a great deal over the last 700 years, and it’s time for a new bestiary that reflects the new things we know about how animals reveal God’s will for our lives. This website is mostly focused on each individual song. Included are brief description and connections to the science behind the songs as well as whatever media is available, often fan video of concerts and occasionally other recordings. Here are the students from Bluffton University who have been a part of the band.Members2012-2013Ezekiel Tracy, Julia Thomas, Sam Stuckey, Evan Skilliter, Brent Schroeder, Mary Schrag, Jesse Maust, Jonathan Luginbill, Chris Jennings, Trevor Bechtel2011-2012Ezekiel Tracy, Elijah Tracy, Brent Schroeder, Kim Rupert, Curt Metzger Jonathan Luginbill, Chris Jennings, Trevor Bechtel2010-2011Blake Zickafoose, Joel Wildermuth, Ezekiel Tracy, Elijah Tracy, Kevin White, Brent Schroeder, Jonathan Luginbill, Chris Jennings, Trevor Bechtel2009-2010Blake Zickafoose, Joel Wildermuth, Kevin Smith, Ben Seibert, Libby Julien, Nathanael Jones, Brendan Haggerty, Trevor Bechtel2008-2009Blake Zickafoose, Hannah Kenney, Erica Weston, Joe Sutter, James Brake, Jess Cassel, Matt Thomsen, Yonathan Seitawan, Nathanael Jones, Brendan Haggerty, Trevor Bechtel2007-2008Jordan Zickafoose, Carrie Yoder, Annie Yoder, Corey Short, Phill Oprie, Eric Martin, Derick Latimer, Nathanael Jones, Brendan Haggerty, Trevor Bechtel
