Shabam Los Angeles trained in the recording studios of Santa Monica in advertising music, but decided that making their own weird, quasi-soundtrack or sound-effect music was their true calling. This music uses samples and effects rhythmically in combination with MIDI instrumental samples in order to generate an often bizarre sonic atmosphere. Shabam did the field recording for the album on the road between Elko, Nevada and Los Angeles, and uses industrial noises, machine noises (such as air conditioning units), car motors, and natural elements, combined with percussive instrumentals to make a unique kind of sound.
