At the time of writing, it has been detected that MistO-MistO is commingling Ethiopian chikchika with Appalachia, Malian blues with Abyssinian ballads and American spirituals, Azmari-infused afrobeat with irresistible pop hooks and modern R&B, and 80s synth pop with Ethio-jazz, all to create an infectious, psychedelic aural experience for Planet Earth.Featuring a rotating cast of seasoned earthling musicians, all who’ve chosen to split their time between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and planet MistO-MistO, the band (also known as MistO-MistO) is currently back on earth to promote the recording of their eponymous debut album. Members include: Mesele Asmamaw on krar (Ethiopian lyre), Endris Hassen on masenqo (Ethiopian single-stringed bowed lute), John McKay on guitars, Samson Sandeku on drums, Cory Seznec on banjo/guitars/synth/harmonica/vocals, Yann Seznec on keys/synth/background vocals, Mesfin “Baby” Sheferaw on vocals, and Misiker “Bubu” Yohannes on bass.
