"Tractorcaster" is the debut CD by Tele-wielding singer songwriter Scott Manery. Born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, Manery calls his style"Brand new old school Country." Scott lists his influences as Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy and Jerry Reed, but says Dwight Yoakam's first album got him hooked on country."Then I discovered The Stray Cats" says Manery,"which introduced me to rockabilly music.""I quickly realized that my fingers were better at playing Eddie Cochran than Eddie VanHalen."The album is named after Manery's homemade John Deere guitar, nicknamed the Fendeere Tractorcaster. As Scott says,"If you're going to play country music you really should have a John Deere guitar." Manery plays all of the lead guitar on the CD.Dave Miner performs all the acoustic guitars. Electric and Stand up bass are performed by Dave Scarlett. Rob Sokol handles the drums and percussion. All four contribute the harmony vocals. Scott wrote all of the songs and sang all the lead vocals as well.Guest musicians include bluegrass harmonica virtuoso Mike Stevens. Raymond McLain adds some amazing fiddle to four tracks on the CD as well. Bruce Clarke plays piano and organ while Adam Miner, who recorded and co-produced Tractorcaster, plays some organ, percussion and harmony vocals through out the CD. Perhaps the most special guest musician is Scott's dad Brian Manery who plays electric guitar on the two slower songs"My Grandpa's a hero" and"The Railroad Man."If you like Honky Tonk music with a Rockabilly edge then you must have a copy of Tractorcaster for your CD collection.***This just in folks.Larry Delaney has just reviewed Tractorcaster for the November edition of Country Music News. Here are some of the highlights."Sometimes the best albums come from unsuspected sources. I had not heard of Scott Manery & The Barn Burners until this album reached my disc player...and now I'm having trouble keeping it out the machine.""...one of the freshest new sounds to come along in Cancountry in some time." (Cancountry is Larry's term for Canadian Country music.)"There's a whole handful of knockout tunes here.""There's plenty of variety of Tractorcaster, and that's what keeps this album workin' from start to finish."
