Benjamin Powell is the second winner of the British Contemporary Piano Competition to record his debut CD for UHRecordings. Opening with two masterpieces of the 20th century from Kenneth Leighton and Karlheinz Stockhausen, the disc includes works by Anthony Gilbert and Martin Butler, composers closely associated with Manchester (where Benjamin lives and works) and finishes with exhilarating performances of two of Elliott Carter's most recent pieces.
