Music is what is left behind when life and I collide."Words Fail Me" tells the story of a year and a half long chapter of my life. Each piece captures a specific event, moment, person, thought and/or feeling in the moment it was being experienced. My piano is my voice, and the music I've written and recorded is my story. I've played the piano since, well... since as far back as I can remember and I've dabbled in writing music here and there throughout that time. But along with all the songs I learned to play (classical, popular, jazz, whatever caught my ear) and the songs I composed there was always another side to my music that until recently I never really"thought" much about and certainly never shared with anyone. Most of my lifetime at the piano has simply been me just"goofing around", improvising and playing whatever came into my head in a given moment. Not too long ago I wanted to tell someone how much I love them and no words were sufficient. I decided it was time for me to dust off my keyboard and do something I hadn't done in years - write a song. In the process of writing and recording that piece, I decided to start hitting record when I was playing my random improvisations as well. That was the beginning of"Words Fail Me".To go back and listen to my improvisations again wasn't even like listening to music, it felt like I was back in that moment, feeling what I felt, thinking what I was thinking and back where I was. I realized that all of that"goofing around" I have done at the keys throughout my life is so much more than goofing around. It is my therapy and my expression of all of the feelings that my analytical, mathematical mind so rarely can find the words to adequately communicate.
