Alaska-based black metal from the gloom and fog-ridden island of Revillagigedo. Skaltros is a dominant force in uncompromising black metal, and one of few Alaskan black metal bands with an enduring existence. The one-man band’s unique sound is characterized by lengthy, blistering, blastbeat-driven assaults seething with tonal richness, interlaced with syrupy, nostalgic ambient soundscapes. Skaltros’ music is a dense mythology reflecting the undaunted struggles of individuality within the context of nature, terror, and decay, invoking images of long-decaying mining towns and canneries, idiosyncractic demonology of nature, and wandering dreams within the daunting and untrodden reaches of southeast Alaska and NW British Columbia. Could be compared to Darkthrone, Taake, Marduk, Lycia, Drudkh, Kampfar, and Burzum.Cedar Horror is Skaltros' 10th studio album (fifth double-album) released since the band's founding in 2010. All music is written, performed, and recorded by Nukshean, who also designs and builds all of the guitars, effects pedals, and microphones used on the album.
