Mary Segato is a songwriter living and making music in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. She has had a lifelong passion for music which began when she picked up a guitar at twelve years old. She began experimenting with songwriting in her teens and she really enjoyed playing music in those formative years. It fostered a love for lyrics and composition which she continued to explore as a hobby for many years.The next twenty years took Mary from one coast of Canada to the other and back home again. During that time, she studied business, married a wonderful husband and raised two beautiful children. All the while, her love of music was in the background filling her family's home and life with song. Although she was unable to pursue music professionally during those years, she continued to develop her skills as a songwriter by writing poetry. This is evident in her recent work where the listener will often be struck by the poetic phrasing of her lyrics. Mary credits many artists from the 1970's and 80's with influencing her, and has a love for music which spans many genres including rock, country, folk, and celtic.In 2010, with her children entering their teens, Mary returned to music with purpose and intensity. Inadvertently, her experiences with her children and their coming of age began to inspire her to write her own songs again. There is nothing like life experience to fuel the fire of inspiration. Mary recorded her first c.d. in June of 2010 called"Love wins the race". The positive feedback she received on this work motivated her to continue to write and improve as a songwriter. She began to enter songwriting competitions as a way to get industry feedback on her music. Over the next two years she received 4 award placements with the International Song of the Year contest, and also had an"Honorary" mention in the Eastcoast music conference song contest. Mary continues to place in songwriting competition and has recently placed as a semifinalist in"Show me the music" songwriting competition out of Nashville.Through Mary's attempt to get her music in circulation through sonicbids, she was able to connect with music producer Scrote at Bundini Music in Los Angeles, California. Mary credits her experience working with Scrote as"bringing her music to a whole new level". She has recorded her latest set of songs with Scrote as her producer in July 2012, and she is very pleased to share this new c.d. titled"Heart Strings".
