“The Last Train is a perfect song that captures the imagination of anyone who has stood along the railroad tracks in some little American town."...- Arlo GuthrieThis is a classic railroad song that will stir deep emotion in any rail fan : ...."Now the flattened copper pennies look like little metal tears, that a railroad cries before it disappears".Originally recorded in 2005, 3 more verses were written to bring the song into form for a book (illustrated by Wendell Minor). This new version of the song has all the elements of a great Folk or Bluegrass classic...great lyrics, great harmonies, great picking and a beautifully transparent recording.Gordon's wonderful ballad features his fine banjo, mandolin playing, and is augmented by guest artists: Arlo Guthrie on Guitar, Mike Auldridge on Dobro, John Miller on Bass, Antoinne Silverman on Fiddle and, of course, Gordon on Banjo & Mandolin.Gordon's work as a studio & live musician on banjo, mandolin & pedal steel has been heard supporting many very well known artists over the years including: Paul Simon, Arlo Guthrie, Shawn Colvin, Jim Lauderdale, Peter Rowan,Bill Keith.
