The Crazy Never Die have made an album that is truly unique and unpredictable. Employing an array of instrumentation not generally heard in rock music, they seem to have created a musical lab experiment. Release the Ground is part rock, part psychedelic, part classical fanfare held together by strong songwriting. Each song has its own character whether it be a psychedelic folk song with flute, a hard rock song with a violin, or a rock epic with choir. This channel-surfing sporadicness is not necessarily for everyone. The lack of traditional focus can confuse and disturb the uninitiated experimental music listener. However, for those of us with an eclectic ear, a desire for the unexpected, and ironclad grit, this album is a welcome discovery.
