"D. Ferren creates a world of shady characters, broken hearts and drunken laments on For Glare & Gun. These are songs that inhabit dusty melodies, barroom piano ballads and, at times, freaky jams that feel strangely familiar yet completely alien."- ZE CATALIST online blog (Dec 19, 2012)"I feel like For Glare & Gun is one of those dusty masterpieces that isn’t truly getting the recognition it so deserves. No gimmicks. No explosions or free candy with the purchase of a cd. There needn’t be any added extras or extended warranties with this thing. D Ferren and his studio cohorts have put together a ten song album filled with acoustic strumming, Stones-y rockers and drunken swaying dirt-floor curtsies. Cause what we have here is something very special. We have something Whiskeytown would be proud to call their own, if they were still together. This is primo post-Tupelo Wilco. This is The Flying Burrito Brothers covering Let It Bleed. This is, well, this is D Ferren.- E. A. Poorman, The Point 91 FM music blog (Oct 03, 2012)" 'For Glare & Gun' offers up a collection of ballads that range from heartfelt to heavy rocking."- Fort Wayne Monthly Magazine (Aug 01, 2012) “This record feels like a lost gem. Newly found, we get to enjoy it once again and wonder how we ever got along without it. D Ferren has one of those voices that sounds so familiar, yet you just can’t quite place it. At times he’s reminiscent of Mutations-era Beck. At times a less constipated Jay Farrar, though Farrar could never write anything this fun.”- John Hubner, Whatzup (Apr 13, 2012)
