The name No Stone Thrown comes from John chapter eight. In that chapter a woman who is caught in adultery is brought to Jesus. This was a test to see if Jesus would follow the law and say that she should be condemned to death by stoning. Instead of judging this woman Jesus simply says “He who is without sin should cast the first stone.” One by one her accusers walked away.Our goal is to write honest music that encapsulates many aspects of life but is always grounded in the free grace of God. We know that none of us deserve that redeeming grace so every aspect of our life and art should be flavored with it. No Stone Thrown was started in 2003 by friends Miles Morgan, Jacob Etheredge, Jesse Masson and Micah Morgan. They played several shows and won a battle of the bands in Story City, Iowa. The funds from their battle win enabled them to record their demo.Then, they all fell in love and got married and in turn ruined their chances at musical stardom but secured lifelong love. Sure, some of them kept playing music every now and then. Shoot, one of them even moved to Nashville for awhile but it was never the same. History became legend, legend became myth and for over a decade the smooth sounds of No Stone Thrown were silent. Then from a basement in northern Iowa there was the faint sound of an acoustic guitar, singing, and drum set blending together and like a phoenix rising from the ashes Jacob and Miles reformed what had been broken.Miles is the primary song writer / leader of the band. Jacob plays drums and is a constant sounding board for the musical direction of the band whether that is lyrics, style, method of recording or sound mixing.
