Though the name White Trash Retards may conjure up images of idiosyncrasy and a formal lack of seriousness, the music contradicts this prejudgement. Hidden behind this facade you will find songs written and composed in a fog of frustration and discontentment. Reopening Wounds is the final product of an idea dreamed up by three Norwegian guys back in 2008, since then, the group has grown with two new additions making it a five man operation. The base of this operation lies with the lyrics, written by Øyvind Christiansen, a man who has withstood more hardship in his 30 or so years on this planet, than most men will have to endure in their entire lifetime. The hard work has been lying on the shoulders of Eirik Asdal Aanonsen, whose well of musical ideas never runs dry. The remaining bandmembers are Sverre Høegh-Omdal, Simen Svanevik Bendiksen and Lars L. Solberg, who have all chipped in with their expertise on vocals, guitars, piano and bass.The sound is a mixture of hard rock and metal with faint aroma of country, and the presence of each genre is varied throughout the album. This is pretty much just a product of the varied musical interests of the different band members, and a wish to stand out in this melting pot we once called rock and roll.
