专辑《The Apartment Sessions - EP》 简介
Sydney-born singer/songwriter Tam had humble beginnings in her native Australia with a diverse range of musical influences. She was inspired and fascinated by her parent’s extensive record collection; from her mum’s Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder records as well as her dad’s Sex Pistols and Johnny Cash LPs, while later discovering Bob Dylan and The Beatles. Reveling in melodies from the pop and rock’n’roll era of yesteryear was this young introvert’s bag.She began penning her life experiences and telling stories at the little-human age of eight with a song called Memories – the world needed to know that Tam was devastated about her best friend from school moving away.Having grown up a lot since then, and with an eclectic mix of musical influences, guitar in hand, black pen and a moleskin notebook, Tam developed a distinct acoustic pop and lyrical identity. Tam weighs in: “I just really wanted to tell stories, music can be so moving and I just wanted to be a part of creating that. I like crafting songs, there’s something methodical about it all that I like…”.This initial affair with music and lyricism paved the way for Tam’s musical pilgrimage to the east coast music scene in Australia, seeing her support the likes of Abbe May and Diana Anaid with her songs of love, heartbreak and the human condition…"…You’d share your bedAnd I’d find space in the sheetsAnd I'd hide in your arms and hear your heart beat da-dum da-dum da-dum…"Adventure and a hunger to expand her horizons kept calling, seeing Tam put down her instruments, pack a suitcase and embark on an international adventure to London. It was here that Tam lived, drinking copious amounts of black coffee, finding a new guitar, and playing in various low key shows with jazz musicians and songwriters alike before continuing on to New York. During these nomadic times, Tam penned lyrics around missing family and friends, identity, being away from home and travel…"…My last week in Hampstead, we went down to the parkand played in all the red leaves, and walked home in the darkwhile we planned our lives together, though we knew this was the end,oh I won't forget you Hampstead, or you, my darling friend…"Now, living and writing songs from her apartment in Harlem, New York, Tam has been flitting about the New York music scene while working away on her debut EP, The Apartment Sessions. This project started as an organic process of crafting and recording songs for her first EP in the space of her humble shoebox apartment and soon evolved as an idea for touring, playing small intimate shows in people’s apartments rather than busy crowded bars. The songs she shares are intimate and heartfelt – a true reflection of the environment in which they were created.Although she is only releasing a few tracks, Tam has a lot of little ditties that she’s piecing together which she says her followers can expect to hear down the track. As she puts the finishing touches on her EP, you might catch her playing in a stranger’s apartment for the upcoming Apartment Sessions Tour or at a random open mic night in New York as she breaks new material in intimate settings.
